    Thank you for sharing this Carrie. I know you are happy for other children that graduate but you are mourning the loss of the child that might have been while deeply loving the child that is. Your description of you as a mother resonates with me even though I didn’t have your challenges. At times, I failed to be the mother that I wish that I could have been but I tried so hard and I loved and do love them so deeply. They know this now.. I don’t think there are any perfect families but love wins in the end.
