The publisher didn’t want it.
I wrote it anyway.

#1 New Release in Motherhood.
#1 New Release in Parenting Books on with Children with Disabilities.
This book is my heart in words.
Thank you, gentle reader, for rooting for us. Especially on the days when we couldn’t root for ourselves.
“This book is beautifully written. Carrie has a way with words which feels like I’m reading a symphony. The story is one of love, joy and the sometimes messiness of life.
Some of the chapters are so poignant they made me tear up. Other chapters are sharp and straight to the heart.”

Carrie gets us. She tells the story like you will never get from a doctor, psychiatrist, nurse, teacher, or therapist, unless they have lived it and loved the life and your child or children and families involved and have the God-given talent of a true story-teller that will make your eyes wet and your heart ache. Both from the challenges and victories, sadness and laughter.

Hi, Carrie. I love your style, and I have all three of your books. In your newest book, “half my sky”, you open up so vulnerably and generously. I especially love that in both your writing and in your live streaming content you take the time to think before responding to your children, which I’m now trying to model with my own children. You’re showing me that dealing with my children, and especially with my autistic son, the best way to keep him calm is by staying steady and calm myself in my demeanor and words. Calm and steady from my side really helps to receive a calm and steady response back. Also, as my son gets closer to adulthood, I have new hope that things may continue on a positive path, with less setbacks than in his earlier years and with more steps forward than back. Thank you!
