I love, love, loved this post. I’m not Italian but about half of my friends are and I’ve known many nonnas. This post made me well up with memories of those Italian moms/grandmas — their warmth, their hugs, the abundance of food, Sunday dinner traditions, the arguing and laughing, the appreciation for music, art and wine. One especially touching detail: the thoughtfully purchased Oreos for Jack. If only my mom would make that effort to know my special needs child … Thank you, Carrie. x

Beautifully, beautifully written. Warmed this G’ma’s heart and brought tears to my eyes. How I love my Keegan.
