I think the hope that our children will have a happy and healthy life with happy memories is one of the few hopes worth having. Everything else that we may hope for our children may just be what would make us happy, but not necessarily them. – And, also, why would he not find a life partner one day? Maybe he’ll meet a nice person who can truly relate to him because they are also on the spectrum.

I really resonate with the title of this – “hope lightly, love fiercely”. In my mind I see hope being held with open hands – not forcing things to happen. Holding hope, but not clinging to it. And this idea of being present to what is, present to what is happening right in front of us – that is a fierce love. Thank you for sharing.

I also really resonate with the idea that “Hope is good. Goals are good. Until they are not.” So so true.

Thankful for your honesty (again…still). I could feel your pain and felt my eyes fill with tears. I am thankful you are raising others’ awareness of what autism is, how if affects families, and how if also affects the hearts of parents. You are an AWESOME mom and Jack is lucky you are HIS mom. Keep your head and your heart in it…life is a beautiful, scary, frustrating, amazing journey. Best, Gayle

    Fabulous!

A lot of people with different abilities than is expected have companies and design and make things.

Jack loves to bake, I can see a future there. Maybe a bakery with a staff full of wonderful people like Jack!

All I say is that the gift of an autistic son is God given to special moms to power through. Did it! A minute by minute commitment for a life time! I feel your every pain, thought and heart. Thank you for being just who Jack needed, needs and will need.
