This is such an amazing device to look through the window yet another way. The heartbreaking, exhausting, relentless window of Autism. Wolfie is a service dog. Not professionally trained but he does what dogs all dogs long to do. They protect their humans and love unconditionally.

Brutally honest about daily life of a family with special need child. I feel the pain, disappointment, anger, fatigue, exchaustion yet I feel the power of family being together. There might be fights, nasty words yet staying together takes another level of strength and love

Lovey dog, great bond. I see some of your family in my eyes, particularly the jumping around bit. He has little social interaction but is working part-time as a warehouse porter. I love him as you love your son.

It is hard to remember when one is in the thick of things, but none of the things we think our children may miss out on (Honors society, MVP, prom, etc.) actually guarantee a life well lived. We could always focus on what we don’t have, but of course, it does not help, and it tends to create resentment and a sense of hopelessness in the person who we perceive as lacking and not having what it takes to have a happy life.

In a recent post, you described how your son made amazing chicken wings. I was definitely impressed. It is clear that your son has a very markable skill! He seems to have a passion for preparing food well while having the ability to intensely focus on the process of food preparation (and that includes all the necessary research to get it done well). What remarkable qualities! I would try to celebrate this and praise it over and over. Maybe, he could even read books by famous chefs. Who knows, but perhaps with your help, he could be running a catering business one day. Attention to detail, a passion for cooking, and an appreciation for handwashing (as you mentioned in previous posts) would be perfect qualities!
