Rose, you did a great job filling in for your human this week. So good, in fact, that YOU came up with the perfect title: “We are a family.” And the prize is that Carrie gets lots of appreciation, even when we don’t tell her. And her family appreciates her, too. Because, otherwise, she would have a heart that felt like those three empty bins. So she gets the prize. No postage required. 🙂

How about The Humans in My Family, The Dog Tells All. And I will take a Best Mother Ever Mug, because the thought makes laugh and it reminds me that it isn’t going to get easier ( my Jack is just a toddler), but I might as well laugh at myself and keep on going. Thanks for the post today. It made me laugh and cry and watered that seed of hope we are trying to grow.

I read your blog every week. It’s so good. My Aspie is turning 25 and he’s in college. It can happen! Hoo, boy, those childhood years though…..

Not perfect is perfection to me.

Love your blogs. My son (and older ASD kiddo) is about the same age as your Jack. I love your approach to life’s little lessons that are coming up. Truely, thank you.

I love reading your stories Carrie. I get excited for Monday mornings, because I know that once I get to work, sign into my gmail account there will be a message from you of hope/chaos/honesty/personality waiting for me in my mailbox! I don’t have any kids of my own so I can’t fathom how hard it is to raise 5 kiddo’s, but I’m a teacher and have 4 siblings. So, I appreciate your sense of humor and unabashed story telling. By the way, your children sound amazing! Thank you for sharing your heart with us. I learn something new about trust, despair, love, organization, pets, Autism that I take with me. 🙂

My son is so much more verbal than your Jack, but we are struggling this year with anxiety, too. He backs out of social occasions at the last minute. He’s dropped out of our home school PE group. He would never leave the house at all if I gave him the option. And I am concerned. I understand just a small piece of your world. You are not alone. Be encouraged.

I miss the days of report cards and smelly gym clothes. My oldest is moving into a condo tomorrow. It is so exciting to know that he has purchased his own place in the same town as his family. We are so grateful.

As for my 23 year old son with autism, he is still home with us. Today he slept till 1PM. His college class didn’t start until 2:45PM so I didn’t disturb him. I am learning he has to live with his choices and it isn’t up to me to decide what time he wakes up. I’m getting better at minding my own business. It’s best for our relationship.

Gone are the days when I’m carpooling or monitoring homework, but I’m still running out of bananas and I’m okay with that.
Thank you for your sincere words. I am a fan.

    Teri
