Dear Carrie, I love your beautiful sentiments about your dear Joe. It does sound like you two together are coping with life and the ups and downs very well . I did get up to New Hampshire for granddaughter’s high school graduation and wanted to get to see you but there just wasn’t enough time to call. Son Reed did takeme up toBarre to the cemetery where Hal’s ashes are buried in my family plot. I’ll try harder next time. Stick with it-you are both doing w great job and your children are beautiful. Fondly, Arlene

God bless you Carrie, and family. We all try to do what we are lead to do, with lots of compromise along the way, and plenty of pot holes to navigate. Most of the time it works out well. Sometimes it results in a pile of keys and receipts, or a garage or kitchen that’s not quite as organized as it could be. The glue that holds it all together? Our kids, mutual love and respect.

Figuring out the messy art of marriage is a beautiful perspective on those sometimes whispered and sometimes shouted things that pass back and forth between two people who love each other desperately. And are trying to raise 5 children to see that good with bad and bad with good make the world go round and no one will fall off if you all just hang on together. Thank you for sharing honestly of your lives – living it out loud for the rest of us.

I love this one Carrie – you’re as real and down to earth as the next family. There’s no fakeness to your blogs, no pretending that life is easy or that you have all the answers or that choices made are always perfect. It’s a grand feeling to know that we are not alone in our daily struggles and passionate disagreement in the rain doesn’t make us bad parents, it makes us real, as real as the next family.

    Thank you Carrie!

Wonderful poem/letter, Carrie! I laughed too loud, woke a child and then got misty-eyed with the turtles. Thank you for sharing!!

I’m sitting in the doctor’s office for my own “Jack’s” 10 year physical, and I’ve got tears streaming down my face. Autistic brothering most certainly IS a talent! Well done Joey. Well done, family!
