Many people have read this book and loved it. My family being a few of those readers. You cant go through life trying to make everyone happy and not everybody will like you or your work. Keep in mind that many people do.
Opinions : everyone has one but that’s what they are, opinions not fact.

Keep doing what your doing Carrie and don’t worry about the critics.

“Over-stylized” sounds an awful lot like code for “I want to sound like I know what I’m talking about when reviewing this book, but I don’t, so I’ll use this word.” Just saying…

Everyone in today’s world will at some some time have personal contact with a family, or an individual, affected by autism or some other type of disability, whether physical or mental. In my grandparent’s generation, they were kept in an institution and treated like mushrooms, and/or abused.
Now we will all have exposure to those considered “less able”, and gratefully, with the help of books like Carrie’s “What color is Monday”‘, we can learn. We have so much to learn about disabilities, treatments, interventions, therapies, and how to help each individual attain their greatest potential, whatever that may be. And learn how to cope, how to embrace, how to love. Mostly by trial and error, in my case mostly error.
Carrie’s world brings information to people, as my 28 year-old-daughter has taught countless numbers of teachers, therapists, friends, family members and doctors about her Angelman syndrome.
A look into the lives of our children and families should be mandatory reading for every adult, regardless of personal situation, not as a call for sympathy, but to teach others what really matters in simply existing, and realizing that any day that comes to completion at bed time without a major emergency or disaster, is in itself, a blessing from God.
    Thank you, Carrie!
P.S. A licensed school physical therapist, who has become a long-time family friend, offered to do some day-care for my daughter, and I held her to it.
After this lady had spent most of a day with my girl, she stated that she had learned that life at home with her clients was much different than what she had been taught and envisioned from her prior three-hours-per-week exposure, for over a year. It totally changed her approach to her job, and appreciation of her clients and their families.
